Research facilities

The following is a list of the research laboratories and resources available in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. Queries regarding particular facilities should be addressed to the contact person listed for each entry.

Construction Management Research Team

Currently involved in two large government funded research projects focusing on post-disaster reconstruction and retrofitting for seismic damage protection.

Environmental Engineering Laboratory

The lab provides access to a number of advanced instruments including chromatographs, detectors, nutrient and organic analysers.

Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

Providing specialised equipment for bed erosion studies and scour about obstructions in river beds.

Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory

Provides an array of equipment for evaluating soil and rock properties supported with good data logging facilities.

Mobile Field Laboratory (MFL) for in-situ testing

Enabling in-situ testing of full-scale structural and geotechnical systems with satellite connection for teleobservation and telepresence at test sites.
